The iPhone 5 To Have A Positive Effect On iPhone 4S SalesSep 3rd, 2012 | By phoneslimited | Category: Telecommunications
In September we are likely to see the new iPhone5 unveiled in preparation for an October launch of the eagery anticipated new handset from Apple. This may lead many people to believe that we would see a fall in sales of older models such as the iPhone 4S but it looks as though models such as this may see a rise in sales thanks to the new model.
Leading tech website Digitimes is reporting that in the third quarter of 2012 we are likely to see a rise in demand for the iPhone 4S. The site reports that we could see an quarterly increase of between 10 and 15 per cent in sales of the phone. Many people will hold off purchasing this new model and tying themselves into a two year contract on a phone that is about to be replaced but many consumers base their purchase on cost and the new iPhone 5 will signify a sharp fall in costs for models like the 4S. This is already evident with contracts available at a fraction of their original cost. Effectively existing models such as the iPhone 4S and 4 will become more price friendly options while the new iPhone 5 will be the flagship model in the range. Fourth quarter results are also predicted to be impressive with an expected 28 million iPhones shipped. 6 to 10 million of these will be the new handset while the remainder will be made up of the newly priced models such as the 4S.
There is no reason at why we should expect the iPhone 4S to simply disappear just because a new model is being launched. The handset still offers some superb specification and at the new lower price point actually exceeds many rival mid range models have to offer. The stand out feature on this handset is undoubtedly the superb Retina Display. This excellent 3.5 inch screen offers a huge resolution of 960 x 640 pixels which results in a staggering pixel density of 330 PPI. Underneath the bonnet things are equally as impressive thanks to the inclusion of a dual core processor which ensures that the phone operates at very quick speeds for single or multiple tasks. The excellent iOS5 operating system also helps in this area thanks to its great power efficiency which does not place much strain on the processor. Camera features are also great with the device capable of recording video in 1080P HD quality and capturing still photographs at a resolution of 8 mega pixels.
Although it may be the iPhone 5 that grabs much of the media attention when it is finally released, the iPhone 4S will remain the top dog for a little while when it comes to sales. A reduction in the price of this phone should see it become a popular device over the final quarter of 2012.
