iPhone 4 And Selected Samsung Products Are Banned In KoreaAug 29th, 2012 | By phoneslimited | Category: Telecommunications
Apple products in the likes of the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2 together with a selection of Samsung products are banned from sale in South Korea. This is after a court ruled regarding both companies’ being guilty of patent infringement.
According to The Wall Street Journal and I quote: “While the win for both parties comes with slight financial damages equivalent to a slap on the wrist, the court decision could be a sign of things to come in a high-stakes US federal case as the two suits involve the same issue”.
With the said court ruling, Samsung came out with the worse penalty by having its Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, Galaxy nexus, Galaxy Tab, and Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets banned from Sale in South Korea. Apple on the other hand was ordered to stop their iPhone 4 and iPad 2 sales after they were found to infringe on Samsung’s wireless technology patents.
One of the key aspects of the said ruling stated that there was “no possibility that a consumer would confuse the two companies” smartphones and that Samsung’s User Interface (UI) iconography doesn’t infringe on Apple’s patents” Says Apple Insider.
Both of the companies claims’ are that the heart of the Cupertino technology giant’s US case. The end tally had Apple infringing on two of Samsung’s patents, with Samsung infringing just one Apple property. This means that the current US-based court battle between Apple and Samsung remains to be seen. If the US court comes to the same conclusions, then this could spell a lot of trouble for Samsung. Why? This is because the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2, and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are big sellers in the US.
