Nokia Lumia 520 Named As The Most Popular Windows Phone Handset

While Android and Apple’s iOS remain the market leading mobile operating systems by a wide margin, Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform has become increasingly popular during the last couple of years.

A number of manufacturers now offer plenty of devices with Windows Phone as their operating system of choice, including HTC, Samsung and of course Nokia. Nokia is now by far the biggest manufacturer of Windows Phone devices, and the popularity of its Lumia series has been largely responsible for the increase in market share for the operating system.

Phones like the Nokia Lumia 920 have played a large part in raising the profile of the operating system in recent months, but GSM Arena has recently reported on new data which shows the biggest selling Windows Phone handset. The title goes to the Nokia Lumia 520, which is the manufacturer’s entry level Windows Phone. The website has reported on data from AdDuplex, which has revealed that the Lumia 520 has now become so popular that it accounts for 13.3% of global Windows Phone sales, across all manufacturers. This is a very impressive achievement, considering fact that the Lumia 520 is a budget device, and shows that an advanced spec list does not necessarily equate to higher sales figures. Visit our website to find out more about the Nokia Lumia 520, and compare the best Nokia Lumia 520 contract prices.

Although the Nokia Lumia 520 is a relatively affordable device, it still offers plenty of decent features. Alongside the Windows Phone 8 operating system, the phone includes a 5 megapixel camera, 4 inch touchscreen, 8 GB of storage with microSD slot and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The phone also looks the part, sharing similar stylish design to phones like the Lumia 920, and comes in a handful of different colour variants.

While Nokia has released several more advanced Lumia devices recently, like the Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and Lumia 1020, these phones are too new to have been included in the data.

150k Units Of The Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A Sold In First Two Weeks

Sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4 have broken records for the South Korean manufacturer as expected. Although it was recently reported that demand for the phone may be slowing down, it was recently revealed that sales of the phone topped 20 million sales after just two months on the market, the same figure that its Galaxy S3 predecessor took one hundred days to achieve.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is of course the most advanced model to date from the manufacturer. Key features include a 5 inch 1080p display, 13 megapixel camera, 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.2.2 Jellybean operating system with Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature UX interface and an innovative package of Samsung applications.

Samsung recently launched a new variant of the Galaxy S4, but with LTE-Advanced connectivity. This is the fastest means of downloading data on a mobile device, offering even faster speeds than 4G. It was recently reported by SamMobile that Samsung has sold 150,000 units of this version of the device after just two weeks on the market. Of course, the ongoing strong sales the Galaxy S4 mean that this may not seem like the most newsworthy figure. However, these sales refer to a single market, South Korea which is the only country where this version of the device is currently available. Visit our website for the latest Samsung Galaxy S4 news, and compare Samsung Galaxy S4 contract offers.

This version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has largely the same spec list as the standard version. The main changes made to the phone’s hardware include an upgraded processor, which is a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz, and of course the addition of LTE-Advanced connectivity.

South Korea is currently the only country where this version of phone is available, and it seems that Samsung currently has no plans to release it in the UK. However, this is of course subject to change in the future, as 4G infrastructure becomes more widely available.

Would you buy this version of the phone if it was made available in the UK, or do you think the standard Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the better choice? Leave a comment to let us know what you think.

Larger Touchscreen May Lead To iPhone 5S Production Delays

There has been growing excitement for the iPhone 5S in recent months, and in recent weeks there has been mounting speculation about when it is likely to hit the market. Previous rumours have suggested that the iPhone 5S will be announced in the summer and hit the market in Q3, which would certainly make sense given the fact that the iPhone 5 has been on the market since September.

In recent months, several sources have claimed that the iPhone 5S will be announced in the summer, but recent information has suggested that the production and the release of the phone may be delayed until later this year.

Of course, Apple’s previous ‘S’ models, like the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S utilise the same design and screen size as their preceding models. However, GSM Arena has recently reported that a larger touchscreen may be utilised by the iPhone 5S, replacing the 4 inch screen of the iPhone 5 with a larger 4.3 inch display. As a result, the website has reported that this may lead to delays in the phone’s production, resulting in its release being delayed until the end of 2013. Visit our website for the latest iPhone 5S info and compare iPhone 5 contract offers.

Of course, this information has not officially come from Apple, so it could be just another rumour. No further information was revealed regarding any changes to the resolution of the screen. The iPhone 5S is likely to include an upgraded camera and processor, and will of course the latest addition of Apple’s mobile operating system, the recently announced iOS 7 update. The phone is also rumoured to sport LTE-Advanced connectivity and a fingerprint scanner, along with a number of new colour options joining the standard black and white colour schemes.

Of course, many more rumours about the potential features of the iPhone 5S are likely to do the rounds on the near future, so as usual we will keep you posted with the latest details.

HTC One Mini Goes Official

For several months, there has been widespread speculation about the HTC One Mini, and finally the device has been officially announced by the Taiwan based manufacturer. The phone is likely to be a success, given the millions of sales and critical acclaim achieved by its flagship counterpart, the HTC One.

Obviously, the HTC One Mini will be a smaller version of the company’s flagship model, but will come with several downgraded specifications along with a lower price tag. Recently, GSM Arena reported on the full details of the handset’s features. It appears that the majority of its specifications coincide with previous rumours about the device in recent weeks.

The handset is lined up to include a 4.3 inch S-LCD2 720p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The amount of processing power will be slightly downgraded from its flagship counterpart, with a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1 GB of RAM. The device comes with 16 GB of internal storage, and although no microSD slot is included, this amount of storage should be ample for the needs of most users. Android 4.2.2 Jellybean is the phone’s operating system of choice, and it will of course run in conjunction with HTC Sense 5.0 UI. Several of the same software features from the HTC One are included, such as BlinkFeed, along with impressive sound quality thanks to BoomSound, Beats Audio and front facing dual stereo features. The device will offer similar styling to the HTC One, thanks to a similar aluminium chassis. Visit our website for more details on the features of the HTC  One Mini, and compare HTC One prices.

The same 4 Ultrapixel camera of the HTC One will also be incorporated, with the addition of the HTC Zoe feature, led flash and 1080p video capture, plus a 1.6 megapixel front facing camera.

The HTC One Mini is rumoured to be released in the UK on the 9th of August but we will be sure to keep you posted when we hear of any further details regarding its availability and pricing.

HTC One Mini Tipped For August 9th Release In The UK

The HTC One Mini has been the subject of an increasing amount of speculation in recent weeks. Of course, this comes as little surprise given the success of the HTC One, the Taiwanese manufacturer’s current flagship model. This device has clocked up millions of sales, and gained a reputation as one of the most impressive smart phones available.

The HTC One ticks all the boxes in terms of its high-end spec list, and stands out on account of its stylish design thanks to the durable and eye catching aluminium unibody. As its name suggests, the HTC One Mini will be a smaller version of the flagship model, but will come with a number of downgraded specifications and a more affordable price tag. While there is no denying that the HTC One is an outstanding smart phone, it of course commands a hefty price tag, so the HTC One Mini will be a great alternative for those who want a more affordable alternative or simply are not interested in owning a smartphone with the most advanced spec list.

Although HTC is yet to unveil this handset, Android Authority has recently revealed that the device is likely to hit the UK on the 9th of August. The website reports that this information was posted on twitter by @vizileaks. Although this is not official information from HTC, the source has posted reliable information about unreleased smartphone models in the past, such as the release date of the Nokia Lumia 1020. For the latest updates on the HTC One Mini, visit our website where you can also find the cheapest HTC One deals.

Leaked Specs Confirm 20 Megapixel Camera For The Sony Honami

2013 has been a successful year for Sony Mobile, thanks largely to its flagship model, the Sony Xperia Z. The handset hit the market earlier this year, and quickly gained an enviable reputation alongside positive feedback from critics and millions of sales, allowing the handset to become a market leader in several countries.

Sony recently released its first phablet smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra which follows a similar format to its flagship device, but implements a much larger touchscreen and several upgraded features to allow the phone to compete with devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Prior to the announcement of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, it was codenamed as the Togari. In the months leading up to its unveiling, another Sony smartphone was also the subject of plenty of speculation, known as the Xperia Honami. Currently, we’re still awaiting an announcement of this device.

New information about this phone has recently been revealed online. GSM Arena has reported that information regarding its specifications has been revealed, backing up claims that the Xperia Honami will be Sony’s next flagship camera phone. The standout feature of the handset is likely to be its camera, which is reported to sport a whopping 20 megapixel resolution, along with other key features like a 5 inch 1080p display, 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 16 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and a 3000mAh battery capacity. Latest details on the Sony Honami are available on our website along with the best Sony Xperia Z prices.

The Xperia Honami is also likely to incorporate an official IP 57 certification, meaning that like its Xperia Z counterpart it will be fully dust proof and able to withstand submersion in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes without being damaged.

While the Xperia Honami will certainly face tough competition from more recent high end camera phones like the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, it is likely to be a popular device given the reputation of the Xperia Z and the company as a whole. It is expected that the Sony Xperia Honami will be unveiled at the IFA expo in Berlin on the 4th of September.
