In this article, I am going to take a closer look at the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3. These are two of the most impressive and popular Android smartphones currently on the market. I am going to compare some of the key features so you can decide which one comes out on top.

Both of these phones sport the most advanced cameras to date from each manufacturer. The HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 have cameras which share a number of features in common. They have the same resolution of 8 megapixels, and share many of the same image enhancing features such as autofocus, touch focus, face & smile detection, image stabilisation and LED flash etc. Additionally, they have a couple of unique features exclusive to these phones such as the ability to simultaneously capture photos and videos, and a function which will capture a set number of still photos after tapping the capture key just once. Both phones can of course capture video footage a number of different resolutions, the highest of which is 1080p, which is full high definition.

Both handsets also have the same operating system. Both have the latest version of the popular Android operating system, which is also known as ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’. While they share the same basic platform, they also include their respective manufacturers’ custom Android interfaces. These are HTC Sense and Samsung TouchWiz. These provide an alternative aesthetic appearance and a number of additional customisation options to the stock Android interface, along with many exclusive apps, widgets and multimedia download services.

One of the most impressive features of both of these handsets is their screens, both of which are among the most impressive to date from each manufacturer. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8 inch super AMOLED HD capacitive touchscreen, whereas the HTC One X has a slightly smaller screen at 4.7 inches, and has super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen technology. While these phones use different types of touchscreen, the benefits are essentially the same; with excellent colour rendering, wide viewing angles and consistent brightness (even in direct sunlight). They also share the same screen resolution of 720x 1280, meaning they are able to display high definition content, making each one a great choice for multimedia use.

As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X boast excellent screens, cameras and software. Obviously, there is much more to each of these phones, and both make a great choice for many types of user.
